Rebecca Taylor’s Spring 2009 Collection is inspired by the global traveler, flowers from her home garden, and ethnic prints with a feminine twist. Print mixed tops and dresses, light weight cashmere cardigans, and versatile bohemian beaded pieces that will transition seamlessly from day to night round out the collection. The color palette includes pretty, dreamy colors with shots of purple crayon, watermelon, and apple green. Rebecca Taylor’s favorite piece this Spring is a lightweight, paisley printed silk dress that evokes walks through the lavender fields of Province.

Designer Gideon Oberson goes for Global Glamour with his Spring 2009 Collection. He will take us on a journey inspired by the most luxurious resorts found in Ibiza, Saint Tropez, Mykonos, and Porto Cervo. “For me, dressing for the beach is no different than dressing for a night out. My clientele is able to go from poolside straight to cocktails and dinner by simply adding a breathtaking pareo or skirt to complete her ensemble.”

St. Kilda makes simplicity gorgeous with Bohemian-inspired designs. Be warned, these pieces which are individually hand finished with recycled metals, may elicit serene moods and carefree feelings and perhaps a bit of envy.

This fall a lot of retro styles are back with a vengeance. With prints and colors that have not been in fashion for quite a while, there are plenty of styles that will refresh the look of those on the conservative side or totally change the style of the daring fashionista.
Prints are everywhere and plaids are not too far behind. Alexander McQueen, Tibi, and Dolce and Gabbana are showing lots of early-80s Punk inspired red tartan plaid jackets that are sure to be noticed. Florals are quite popular this season as well, seen in many of the ‘40s cut dresses.
One important trend for this season is masculine inspired looks with a twist. Hound’s-tooth, tweed, dark gray, and black pants are being seen often. Tailored and structured manly jackets are also quite popular in many lines. Nanette Lepore’s fall line shows a lot dark gray plaids in her dresses.
This fall dark metallics are being used by many designers. Mainly as accent pieces, tons of vests, shoes, clutches, and bangles can be seen coated with sequins and glitter. These accessories can be a great accent piece to the ‘80s plaid-punk style. Anna Sui is one of the designers following this trend.
On the complete opposite of the spectrum, very ladylike looks are also in for the season. Beyond the floral dresses, ‘40s style cuts and accents are being seen quite often. Full skirts and ruffled blouses in muted ‘40s prints and colors (as well as gem tones) are all adding to this feminine look. Nicole Miller’s Fall 2008 collection shows some of this influence, as well as Nanette Lepore.
The most comfy and cozy look to be seen for fall is warm chunky knits. Mostly in neutrals, this look is great for a cold, snowy day later this season. La Coste, the first name in polo shirts, is showing warm, thick knits everywhere in their fall line sweaters and scarves.
