For the woman who’s jetting off for an exotic trip to the woman who only dreams of escaping her blackberry, comes Bradley Scott’s Spring 2009 collection, “Far and Away.”
For The designer’s latest offers a slew of mix-and-match pieces, what Bradley Scott calls “one-stop shopping” for the young, on-the-go fashionista. Continued is his work with innovative and unique fabrics, paired with sensible designs and clean lines that are well-rounded combination of day and night, work or vacation.
The collection includes plenty of versatile white linen pieces, including an of-the-minute high-waisted take on practical wide-leg pants. The highlight and centerpiece of the collection is a meticulously constructed, crop-sleeved jacket made with raffia. Other highlights include innovative fabric combinations such as linen with organza overlaid and quilted.
For Scott, the season was all about creating a series of clothes that could balance “rough and tough” and “gentle and flirty,” while not compromising style or function. Each piece in the collection can be paired with multiple others in the series, a Bradley Scott trademark.
Scott, a Brooklyn, N.Y., resident and native, studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. He worked as a merchandiser and designer for the Carlyle Group before launching his Bradley Scott collection for Spring 2008. The label has gained the attention of top luxury boutiques including Searle and 25Park.com, and has been in press included Women’s Wear Daily, Fox News and Allure.

The root of ixchel lies heavily in the whimsical paintings of Surrealist art, the witty, sarcastic contradictions of the Dada Movement, and spatial, dark rock music such as Pink Floyd. The feel is neither hard nor soft, dark nor light, masculine nor feminine. To quote Francis Picabia, it “speaks with you, it is everything, it envelops everything.., it can be neither victory nor defeat, it lives in space and not in time.”
ixchel touches on deliberate irrationality, anarchy, and cynicism without completely rejecting classical laws of beauty. Rather, it juxtaposes hard with soft, light with dark, hyper-modern with classic, often using subtle visual puns and trompe l’oeil.
For Spring 2009, ixchel found inspiration at a downtown New York vintage shop- her muse, an androgynous raven-haired woman, cigarette in hand, guiding her black leather boots through aisles of printed vintage silks. Referencing the musical and art historical contexts, the collection includes 1970’s-eque silk jumpsuits contrasted with modern leather pieces and hyper-modern fabrics such as “wet” coated chiffons and shiny, luxe silk nylon blends. The use of trompe l’oeil can be seen in the incorporation of reversed pockets creating an edgy visual “petal” effect as well as the use of printed material as lining which can be seen through the shell fabric and untraditional button placement.

Tamae Ishii set out to capture the classic, feminine style of Audrey Hepburn’s “Roman Holiday” era, but her latest collection is a presence of its own, a new lesson in effortless chic.
Ishii’s Spring 2009 collection embraces cinched-waist full skirts, classic cocktail dresses and even an adaptation of a pedal-pusher/jodhpur pant — designs, that at the core, are a tribute to the 1960s. Ishii’s pieces flourish with modern-day touches: Swiss eyelet fabric, innovative structural ruffles, bold colors mixed with floral prints, design
elements that are both current and classic.
“I wanted to create fun, flirty and wearable pieces that could be dressed up or down,” Ishii said. Bows and ruffles are her signature accents, which are manipulated in a manner that transforms them from girlish and playful to sophisticated.
The playful feel abounds in the entire series; standout pieces include a single-shoulder eyelet mini dress with a bold rose sleeve detail, an Italian linen circle skirt with a silk organza ruffle detail, and Italian cotton ruffled shorts.
Born in Japan and raised in California, Ishii’s goal is to project an innovative light into the young designer market. A graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design, Ishii apprenticed in Italy under master couturier Valentino Garavani. She has also worked for Jean Paul Gautier, Calvin Klein and Zac Posen.
Ishii, which launched in Spring 2007, is carried in retailers including 25Park.com, Nikki Laura Boutique, New York, and Decatur, Los Angeles.

In partnership with Vanity Fair Campaign New York, luxury house Lambertson Truex presents two exclusive totes: the “Index of Happiness” and the “Gertrude.” Both bags have been created with the modern sophistication and superior craftsmanship the brand is known for—and are available in limited quantities only to American Express Cardmembers.
The collector’s edition “Index of Happiness” tote features a print based on an original mixed-media canvas created by contemporary American artist Donald Baechler. The print is the background to one of Baechler’s paintings, and was chosen for the timeless versatility it conveys—a quality that accessory designers Richard Lambertson and John Truex identified in their own work.
The limited-edition “Gertrude” tote, named after patron of the arts Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, is created from super-fine woven canvas and trimmed in natural vacchetta leather. Color-blocked in three rich hues—navy blue, espresso, and saddle—the bag is highlighted with contrast stitching. The interior boasts an embossed silver leaf “Love is Luxury” signature. A classic, refined bag created in true Lambertson Truex tradition.
The totes were unveiled at the Vanity Fair Campaign New York party at the Lambertson Truex flagship store on Madison Avenue. Available exclusively by American Express Cardmembers to purchase, the “Index of Happiness” retails for $1,000 and the “Gertrude” is available for $120. Fifteen percent of the bags’ proceeds will be donated to the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Photography Program, Collection, and Special Exhibitions.
The “Index of Happiness” and “Gertrude” totes are available at vfcampaignny.com now through October 31, 2008.

In it’s third season, Heidi Handler’s, Lovenia collection drew inspiration from a variety of luxurious perspectives…”the surreal light of Nice at twilight.” for inspiring her to line pale pink mousseline with gold silk charmeuse for a ruffled cocktail dress to the volume of Cristobal Balenciaga’s gowns from the late 1950s which evoke the ease and elegance found her light cashmere dresses. “I continue to explore the drop-waist, ‘good-time girl’ proportion of the Roaring Twenties, but am also drawn to the movement of longer dresses with draping and pleating details,” says Handler. “For me, they evoke nights of dancing in grand ballrooms.” As for whom she pictured when whipping up these billowy confections, Handler says: “I looked to the cool confidence, the ethereal beauty and the femininity of Jean Harlow and Scarlett Johansson.”
Timeless silhouettes are a Lovenia hallmark, as is Handler’s selection of the best European fabrics: Cashmeres and linens from Italy, silks and laces from France, and cottons from Switzerland. Combining couture fabrics such as quality American tailoring, and fresh silhouettes that are at once feminine and architectural. Stand out bodies included a silk-net ruffle tier dress and Strapless gown with pleated bodice in blue gray cotton gauze and white cotton batiste underskirt. With an emphasis on quality and originality, Lovenia’s dresses are pure glamour with a modern and effortless sensibility.
